Info
The Clamshell Nebula, also known as Sharpless 119 (Sh2-119), is an emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. It's roughly 2,200 light-years away. Sh2-119 is often overlooked because it's near the brighter North American and Pelican Nebulae. The nebula is shaped by the powerful stellar winds and ultraviolet radiation from the supergiant star 68 Cygni. Sh2-119 is an active star-forming region, with ongoing processes of stellar birth and evolution.
