C63
C63 is a planetary nebula located in the constellation Aquarius, approximately 655 light-years from Earth.
It was formed at the end of a sun-like star's life when the star shed its outer layers. The remnant core of the star became a hot white dwarf, and its energetic glow causes the surrounding expelled gases to fluoresce brightly.
From our vantage point on Earth, the nebula's gas appears to form a helix or screw-like structure, giving it its name. Its eye-like shape has also led to it being nicknamed the "Eye of God" or "Eye of Sauron".
